Mid Season News

We are now mid-way through our season and our programme has been very well received by returning and new members.

Meetings at our new venue have had exceptional attendance throughout the autumn and winter months

We have tried to include a club night, a talk by outside speakers, an outing or shoot plus a competition night per month, this has worked out very well and allows us to bring some very interesting subjects and shooting opportunities.

Our membership has grown beyond expectation and it is hoped that new members will find OPS a welcoming and rewarding place to enjoy the art of photography, helpful advice and above all a friendly atmosphere.

If you would like to join us come along on a Wednesday evening at

Cae Glas Cricket Pavillion situated right next to Gatacre playing fields carpark at 7.30 pm

Membership fees from now until the end of the season are pro rata.

August 2023

The new Season starts on Wednesday 13th of September

Our new season is fast approaching and we have been busy compiling the new programme for 2023-24
This new programme can now be found under the programme tab, it is packed with Talks/Lectures from some very well-known photographers, outings, tuition, competitions and social events and not forgetting our monthly club meetings where we can do practical sessions and enjoy a social chat over light refreshments.

We are also proud to announce our new meeting room which is at Cae Glas Cricket Pavillion on the edge of town, directions and a map can be found under the 'about us' tab.

One other change for this year is our subscription fees, after a discussion at the AGM it was agreed to raise the membership fee to £60 per season

Historically the society levied a subscription fee, which last year was £30 per member and in addition charged a fee of £3  per meeting at our venues.
28 meetings have been planned this year which would potentially incur an additional cost of £84 per member if every meeting was attended.

With this increase, there will be no additional charge for attending meetings.

As part of this change, it has been agreed that any talks or competitions which are held via Zoom will now be available, free of charge, to join by any paid-up member if they are unable to attend the venue in person.

May 2023

We have come to the end of a very successful year, our annual dinner and prize giving at the Queens Head restaurant was well attended.

After a superb meal, the awards were presented by our president Mr Phillip Macey who is the longest standing member with over 30 years, 20 of which he was secretary.
